No more flying for me right now

I feel pretty done with the whole flying part right now. Can't say I have much luck with it. Only this summer I've been on six different flrights, where only two of them have been on time. The actually trip is always awesome, but not the way there.
We were suppose to have three hours in New York before we were gonna head to the airport, I can do three hours. That's a nice lunch and time to buy the last things you need. But when we woke up yeseterday morning we had a suprise waiting for us, the three hours had turned into 10 hours of time to kill in the city before we had to go to the airport. While on the train up they pushed back the flight one more hour, I mean why not. I just lost all energy and will to do anything with the time. I just wanted to get from spot A to B as fast as I could. But now we were stuck in the middle, and couldn't do anything about it. Becuase I can promise you that we tried to look up every possible way to get home faster, and we found a way, it was just that it would cost us about 40 000 sek. Not really our budget.
So we started out with killing a few hours at starbucks before we decided to go to the airport, get rid of at least one bag and then check out the stores there, have dinner and maybe a drink or two.
But there isn't endless of stores at the airport, and we went through them pretty quickly, so we decided to have dinner before everything closed down and then bunker up with a bunch of things for the next few hours of waiting.

Finally, after some reading, watching movies, wine drinking, snack eating and some sleeping on the floor we could finally board the plane and enjoy that the acutal flight went by smoothly and quick. Now it's time to repack everything and go on to the next adventure.

Why not spend a few more hours here?

I don't know what to say to this. Our flight home is delayed, for seven hours. Recognice it? I really don't have luck with flight this summer. Something is always suppose to be wrong. New York is a nice city, but not with millions of bags and when you just wanna get home. Doesn't matter what home. Can take any of them, I just don't wanna be stuck in between and not be able to do anything about it.
But we have had an awesome trip and are already planning our next one back, so will have to focus on that and have a few drinks or something.

Birthdays are meant to be special

This weekend was Juliana's birthday weekend, and you are suppose to have a special day. So we had girls dinner here with wine before we got ready and danced the night away.

Everything has an end

After an amazing last day at the beach we're now on our way home. It's been an awesome time here with my second American family, because they really feel like family and I know that I could always call them if I ever needed help with anything.
We have been doing whatever comes our minds. But one of my favorites have been the bike rides and walks we have started the day with. Today we even had crayfish crawling on the road where we road and when they saw us they looked like they were ready to attack.

A day off the beach

Sometimes you need a day off the beach, and if you got a little too much sun the day before it's a great day to do just that. So we started the day with a 12miles (20km) bike ride through false cape state park, right on the boarder to North Carolina. I can promise you that if you weren't hungry before you are after that, and biking in the sand is not as easy as it might seems. On the beak before we went back home we watched some dolphins swim like 20min out from shore, I know it's common here and I saw them so many times last years too, but it's still pretty cool.

After that and breakfast we did paddle boarding, something we all had never tried before. It was not that hard but very fun. When we got steady standing on that board we started doing yoga poses on it, fun but a lot harder to keep steady. Luckly I didn't fall in until I was too hot and jumped in to cool off.
The rest of the day we spent by the pool just chillaxing and playing with the go pro.

First beach day

When I woke up at 5.30 this morning I let Sara sleep 15more minutes before we went up to leave for the beach. After a pretty nice drive in their New Ford we got an awesome breakfast and then spent the rest of the day at the beach. Jumping in the really big waves, wake boarding, building sandcastles and just reading in the sun. An awesome first day that ended with a dinner that had everything on the table. After I was so full I had a food coma.

My shampoo is still in the shower, my body lotion is still under the sink and my clothes are still in the closet. It's like I never left. With all that and then play by the pool all day with the kids before eating Millys awesome food (that I have missed more then I thought), everything feels like normal.

Like normal but different

It's a weird feeling I have, finally in NYC..everything feels like normal, like I would walk around in Stockholm but at the same time my brain knows I'm suppose to have that feeling that you have when you are's just that I can't feel it. It feels like I never left..and in a way it's true. Last time I was in NY was February..not even six months ago.

Status update (for the one who wanna know): We got through passport control pretty fast, the train didn't work so we took a shuttle bus to the city and walked a few blocks until we got to the hotel. After checking in and changing clothes we did some shopping at time square, bought fruit and toothpaste and now we're back at the hotel..probably gonna try to sleep soon because I've been awake for almost 24 hours.

Mama, I'm coming home

I've never had anything against flying, apart from departure and landing, but other then that I can take it. I actually think it's pretty nice. But right now I feel pretty done for a while, or at least 10 days utnil it's time for me to fly again.
It's actually not the flying bit I'm tired of this time either, it's the traveling part. The part where you're sitting on the airport waiting for them to say it's your turn to board the plane. That's what I could be without. The reason why I'm feeling this way now is probably because both on the way to Spain and on the way home it's been so many complications and time spent waiting, waiting and then get the news that the flight is delays another twenty minutes. Or like the first flight, when they had no idea when we were gonna be able to go onboard because we hadn't got our slot time for lifting.

So after hours just sitting, I think I can say that I'm pretty good at killing time. You can walk around in the shops for about three times before you really have seen every single thing and tried on every single pair of sunglasses. You can eat, a perfect way of killing time and so will your stomach think as well. When you have done all that, you still have reading and watching movies left to kill the last hours.
But now I feel pretty done with all that for a while, at least until next week when it's time to pack my bags again.

Midsummer 2014

I think midsummer is my swedish tradition. It's something for people in all ages and it's in the summer so the chans for warm weather. This year it wasn't that very warm. We had a guy from Austraila with us and he was freezing, it was colder then what he was use to in the winter. But even he loved midsummer after we were done.

We started out with a traditional midsummer lunch where you eat herring in different kind of sause, with potato, cheese pie and chrisp bread with cheese on top. To that it was beer and snaps (something we had to explain to the non swedes that you're not suppose to drink it like a shot because then you'll get super drunk before the lunch is over, and that's far away from bedtime. Because we chears with the snaps at least a five or six times during the meal.) After the lunch we had Strawberrie cake, and don't worry, I took the strawberries off mine.
The best part must have been the faces of the non swedes (we had both Americans and the Aussie guy) when we told them what the maypole was standing for and when we started dancing the frog dance and other dances around the pole.
The rest of the night we had BBQ and drinks by the water.

Mini roadtrip

We (me and Kajsa) decided to accompany Hanna when she went back to Uppsala where she studies, as a little roadtrip. When I was sitting in the back seat of the car on the way up everything felt like normal. It felt back in the US where we did thoes roadtrips all the time, sometimes short ones like this and sometimes longer ones. But I realized how much I've missed it. I need to get out, see something new and just hang out with my friends where I normal don't spend my time. I need more of this! So anyone who wants to go somewhere, I'm in.

Team tutu

This have been the perfect last weekend. Great weather, friends and my second american family together with a lot of fun. It's been long time in traffic, it's been awesome food, it's been early mornings, it's been time at the beach and some running. Team tutu finished the weekend together with the rest of the family with an awesome dinner at Outback..what else do you need? Thank you all for this weekend!

I love road trips and you girls makes them even better
Our good runners almost at the end!
We even had so good weather that we got a day at the beach where the kids where playing in the water and we were suntanning when we didn't play with them or dancing with the music
Because of the good weather we have had some beautiful sunrises over the water and because of the early races we've been up around these times.

Time of our lives

So we decided to do a day trip to Philly yesterday. Perfect weather, amazing friends and a fun city made my Saturday. And of course we had to run up the rocky steps and try the cheesesteak sandwich.

Right now everyone else except for me (and Sara) is counting down the days until I go back to Sweden. Me (and Sara) on the other hand don't wanna think about it yet..! I can't say that I'm ready to leave. I mean I can't wait to see everyone at home but I can do that in a week or, probably gonna need to start packing soon too..but for now we're gonna party and not think about it!

The best trip

We came back late last night after spending the day in Pittsburgh. Now afterward I can really say hands up that this was the best spontaneous trip I have ever made. Really. I loved every single bit about it, even the driing part. You know how you usually get tired of spending so much time in the car and that you are counting the hours until you get there? Well, this trip was nothing like that. I liked the time in the car, and the fact that we barely slept the whole weekend didn't destroy anything. We were literally laughing and smiling the whole weekend.
All cred to planed trips that you are longing for forever and all that, but I really do think spontaneous is even better. We didn't really have any expectations about this weekend, to be honest I didn't really have time to think about it all and on the way up we kept saying "I can't belive we are on our way to the Niagara falls". We didn't plan anything but where to go and somewhere to sleep the last night, that was it. I mean, we satt down in the car friday night and googled the address to where we were going and on the way to Toronto I was reading about that you could do there.
3 girls, about 1111miles, 45 hours, 2 countries and 4 cities...where are we going next?

Spontaneous is the best way of living

A little, or actually a lot spontaneous we decided that it would be super cool to see the Niagara fall frozen. So last night we drove up and since then we have done so much it feels like days ago since we left..DC to Niagara falls, to the Canadian side, to Toronto (because why not when it's not soooo far, only 90min) where it was even more foggy then the drive up and where we found hockey hall of fame, back to the Niagara Falls (still Canada) for some drinks (because it's not every day you are overage haha) and to watch the falls lit up at night and then to Pittsburgh where it's now time for us to sleep in a real bed for the first time in two days and sleep more then just 1.5 hours in one night. (I can't believe that I'm still awake and can function)

Happy New Years!

A message from the past

In Sweden it's already 2014, in the rest of the world east of that it's been 2014 for a while, DC is coming up and a few hours after that it's finally our turn to take a step into the future. 2013 have been an amazing year with so many adventures, new people and love. But I'm ready to put it behind me and welcome the new year for new memories to be made.

The plan was to party but when we both woke up with so sore muscles that we can barly move from yesterday's gym session and I have caught a bad cold we changed it to a nice dinner and fire works by the waterfront.

My road

Yesterday on the way back from the muir woods I found my road up among the mountains. Who ever placed it there probably thought it was funny that I'm scared of hights but it's ok. I can live with it because the view was amazing.

A dream come true

For so long I have dreamed about to see the giant redwood trees and today was the day when that dream would come true. I loved every second of it and being in there was like being in an other world, pretty dark, quiet and just amazing!

Not even 24 hours

I haven't even been here 24 hours, or 24 hours ago I had been running to get ahead of everyone else from the airplane to the taxis so I could get to the hotel as fast as I could. But that feels like forever ago because we have done so much today.

We decided that the best way to discover the city and really feel the whole atmosphere was to walk. So after beakfast we put on the gym shoes to be able to walk everywhere we wanted to get and I can say I'm so happy about that now. My feet hurts from walking a little more then 8 miles but they are still fine. The best part about walking is everything we saw on the way that we would just have passed in a car or bus, but now we actually stoped to just see it.
